Pergo type laminate has come a long way. I have seen beautiful Pergo floors and terrible hard wood floors. But it is usually the other way around.

Hardwood floors are timeless and they last forever. If the costs are similar, I’d go with hardwood.

Installation makes a big difference. Sometimes a floating laminate flooring sounds very cheap when you walk on it.

The most important question is “Do you really need to change your flooring?” Unless your current floor is unattractive or in bad repair, you are probably better off saving your money. There is a very good chance that you will attach more value to your new floor than the potential buyers.

The most important things to consider when marketing your house are price, cleanliness, and condition. If it’s broken, fix it. If it is ugly, fix it. If most people won’t notice, leave it like it is.

Can you send me a picture?

We are starting to do some projects around our house to prep to sell. We are going to have the flooring replaced in our kitchen and foyer. We are going with a “wood look’. Is it better in terms of making a sale to go for real hard wood flooring or do people prefer a Pergo style laminate? I am sure that this is probably one of those things that doesn’t make a great deal of difference but I thought I would ask.

The best way to find the right neighborhood for you is to let someone help you who knows the area. One of the best things about the system that is in place for buying and selling homes is that you, the buyer, don't pay your agent anything, ever. The seller covers all the fees whether you use an agent or not. You will learn more in an afternoon with me house hunting than you have during your countless hours online.

I've spent countless hours online looking for some information on neighborhoods in Hampton Roads. Comparecities.com, Google searches, Yahoo chat sites.... no one gives you a straight answer. I found your website to be very informative and well put together (the pics were a plus). Though I would like to see a section for more moderately priced neighborhoods (the "B" section), for the other 90% of us who can't afford a 1/2 million dollar home.
