North Virginia Beach – Great Neck, The North End, Cape Story By The Sea, Bay Island, Birdneck Point, Bay Colony (and many more)
The northeast portion of the city is what Virginia Beach is all about. If you live in Virginia Beach long enough, it is likely that you will end up in one of these neighborhoods. The homes are pricier, there is no question about that, but you get a lot for your money.
Stability – This area is completely developed. There are no open fields so there is nowhere for a developer to come in and build 100’s of new homes.
Oceanfront – The Atlantic Ocean is across the street, in your backyard if you’re lucky.
Chesapeake Bay – All along Shore Drive you have homes close to the bay and Seashore State Park.
Lynnhaven River, Broad Bay, Linkhorn Bay – There is so much waterfront property here that nearly every neighborhood has some. You may not live in a two million dollar home, but there is a good chance that you’ll find one within walking distance.
Boating – If you live on the water, great! You can dock your boat in your backyard. If not, many neighborhoods have boat ramps and you can always rent a spot at the Boatel or Marina shores. It’s affordable and very convenient.
Great Schools – Cox and First Colonial are the best high schools in Virginia Beach. Cape Henry is a highly regarded private school right next door to First Colonial.
Centrally located – There are tons of restaurants and shopping areas, recreation centers and beaches, great schools and great neighborhoods.
Who lives here? Everybody. But this is the high rent district of Virginia Beach. The entry level for many of the neighborhoods is above $500,000. You can find more affordable homes, but it is likely they will need some work. As a result, you won’t find many young first time home buyers. However, neighborhoods like Alanton are teaming with kids. If you drive the streets in the late afternoon, you have to dodge the strollers, bikers and joggers. The neighborhood parks and pools are social gathering places. The residents are well educated and high wage earners. This is where you will find the highest concentration of great neighborhoods and great people in Virginia Beach.
Making the decision on where to live can be overwhelming. While you can look at homes for sale online, you can’t get the feel of a neighborhood until you actually experience it. I’m more than happy to spend a day with you house hunting and touring the best neighborhoods in Virginia Beach. It’s a lot more fun than searching online and you might find exactly what you are looking for!
