I visited a builder recently at his home in Birdneck Point. He bought a waterfront lot a few years back and built around a stunning view of the Lynnhaven River. He could have built anywhere in Virginia Beach but he chose Birdneck Point. “Birdneck Point is the best location in Virginia Beach,” he told me.

If there is any drawback at all to this neighborhood, it’s the fact that I fly almost directly over top of it when coming in to land on runway 23 at NAS Oceana. However, simply taking a drive through Birdneck Point is enough to make you realize that the occasional “sound of freedom” does little to detract from one of the best neighborhoods in Virginia Beach.

With the most affordable waterfront lots hovering around $1,000,000 it is not for everyone. But that is a major part of this neighborhood’s charm. The homes in Birdneck Point are as beautiful as they are unique. No two are alike which is a refreshing change from some of the newer developments in Virginia Beach. Best of all you get lots of trees and waterfront.
One of the first things you will notice upon entering Birdneck Point is the golf course. The Cavalier Golf and Yacht Club is a private club on the north end of Birdneck Point. Here’s a picture from their website.
